Glimmer was started by Geoffrey and Christine Anderson. The two drew inspiration from brother and son, Steve, who struggles with a cognitive disability. Steve regularly recognized that the world lacked social resources for himself and others like him. Seeing this, and paired with decades of experience working with students with disabilities, the two set out to create an inclusive network that would help people with disabilities–and their families–connect with one another, share stories, make friends, and even find love.
Glimmer is a dream born out of the desire to promote transparency, with a focus on making the world a more warm and welcoming place. Social technology has shifted the way the world interacts. And there are a lot of communities out there, but only Glimmer has a mission is to create a safe, welcoming, and accessible place for people to be open about and–most importantly–proud of who they are.
